Tonia and her partner Sarah Barrow won the women’s European platform synchro title in Eindhoven on Thursday night to rewrite the history books.
The duo continued their recent record-breaking run by ending Britain’s 74-year wait for a female European Championship gold medal after posting a lifetime-best score of 319.56.
It also maintained a breakthrough 12 months which have shot Tonia and Sarah into Olympic medal contention.

After finishing fourth at last year’s World Championships they took bronze at February’s World Cup event – the first ever British women’s medal at a worldwide meet – before establishing themselves as Europe’s best last night.
“We’ve done a few records now,” Tonia said after her gold-medal success.
“It is really exciting. Our aim was to win the gold and we dived really well.
“It was our personal best, which makes it even better, but even then we think we can go better.
“Today wasn’t the best we can do and we scored our highest score.”
The performance moves the duo even closer to Olympic selection, and everyone here at three60 wishes Tonia and Sarah luck as they aim to cement their place at next month’s trials in Sheffield.

Good luck to three60 client, 10m platform diver Tonia Couch who is currently at the European Championships in Eindhoven.

Tonia made history when she took bronze in the woman’s 10m Platform Synchronised diving event with her partner Sarah Barrow at February’s FINA World Cup. A second world cup bronze medal followed in Mexico last month.
Tonia said of this achievement: “It was good to get on that podium, especially in a major competition.
“It definitely gave us that extra bit of belief we needed after the World Champs.
“We showed we were close but to do it was important.”
Positive commentary in the Telegraph this week about Tonia:
‘Women’s platform synchro team Tonia Couch and Sarah Barrow will look to continue their breakthrough season on Thursday night.’

Victoria is involved with Samsung’s charity initiative encouraging everyone to take part in the London 2012 Olympic Games.
Passing the Torch for Hope: Samsung’s Humanitarian Relay Project for the 2012 Summer Olympics.
As the Olympic Flame prepares for its journey across the UK for the London 2012 Olympic Torch Relay, Victoria joined forces with Jamie Oliver today to launch a relay everyone can take part in – the Samsung Hope Relay.

The goal of the Samsung Hope Relay is to encourage everyone around the world to take part in the Olympic Games and leave a lasting legacy. The concept is simple – for every mile completed by those taking part, Samsung will donate £1 to charities such as London-based Kids Company, London 2012′s international sports legacy programme, International Inspiration, and an IOC designated charity.
At the official launch today in London, Victoria unveiled a giant ‘Samsung Wall of Hope’ – a structure which spelled out the words ‘Samsung Hope Relay’ and housed hundreds of pairs of sneakers that participants could put on and complete their mile along a specially laid track. Jamie and Victoria were the first to take a pair of trainers from the wall and then Victoria cycled a mile round the Samsung track in front of one of London’s most famous landmarks, City Hall, overlooking the River Thames.

Victoria cycled her mile with some of those that have benefited from the Kids Company’s work.
Victoria said:
“It was a real inspiration to meet some of the people who have embraced the support Kids Company has offered them be able to go on to lead a meaningful and rewarding life. I’ve been training hard for the Olympic Games and now it’s just around the corner so it’s time for everyone to get involved – the Samsung Hope Relay is a great way of raising funds for deserving causes, like Kids Company, and letting everyone take part in the Games.”
Great news for the sport of cycling today when Sky announced an extension to their support of British Cycling.
Victoria and Geraint both featured in the announcement image!
The British television and communications company has been the principal partner of British Cycling since 2008 and in those four years interest and participation in the sport has increased dramatically. With this new multi-million pound deal running until 2016, the next four years are likely to be just as significant in the development of the sport in the British Isles.

Geraint Thomas is now an ambassador for Bioflow Sports.

Throughout 2012 Geraint will support their new innovative range of Bioflow Sport Cycling Bands.

Ben Swift has confirmed that his aim is to ride on the road at London 2012 rather than the track.

Ben proved he is on excellent form by medalling in three non-Olympic events at the 2012 World track Cycling Championships. At the event held in Melbourne earlier this month, Ben won gold in the scratch race and silver medals in the points race and the Madison, the latter with Geraint Thomas.
However, ater recent consultations British Cycling’s head coach, Shane Sutton, the men’s endurance coach, Dan Hunt, and the road coach, Rod Ellingworth, Ben has decided against continuing to be in the mix for the four-man 4km team pursuit in the velodrome.
Instead he will continue training hard for the road and challenge for the five-man team for the Olympic 250km road race held on 28 July 2012.
In the meantime Ben has been confirmed in Team Sky’s squad for May’s Giro d’Italia which kicks off in the Danish town of Herning on Saturday 5 May and culminates in Milan on Sunday 27 May

Geraint has returned to the road in style by winning the opening prologue of the Tour de Romandie.

Considering that Geraint only had 10 days warning that he was riding in this tour it is a particularly impressive result.
Geraint completed the 3.34km time trial through Lausanne in three minutes and 29.43 seconds, four seconds clear of Italian Giacomo Nizzolo.
Geraint said to Sky Online:
“It’s a nice little win. The team told me I was racing here about 10 days ago so it was great to come over. I always knew that I’d be up there. Fortunately with the weather conditions it played into my hands a bit but there was only really one corner. There’s only so much time you can lose in one corner.
“For myself now it’s purely a team role. I’ll be there to help Cav in the sprints wherever they come and Bradley is going for the GC as well so I’ll be there to help him wherever I can. Coming from the track I don’t really have the climbing legs at the minute. I’ve been used to 4k the last couple of weeks with the track but we’ll give it everything and see what happens.”
“The team has stepped up a level each year now. As we saw in Paris-Nice it is a strong team. Obviously I’m not going to be anywhere near the lead come the end, but I think it’s good for the team to get the win and get the jersey. It’s always good for morale and I think we would have probably had to ride anyway along with BMC. This race means a lot to the team and we’ve got big ambitions here.
“For the team whoever wears the jersey it’s good. If I could lead out Cav tomorrow and he could win and take the jersey it would be great. As long as it’s within the team we’re happy.”
